My Neighbour - Mr James by Ernest

One fine and breezy Friday evening, I went to East Coast Park to jog with my parents. We were jogging until we saw a forty-year-old man jogging in front of us. We could recognise that he was our neighbour, Mr James. My parents and i were not aware that he was struggling to jog. After a short period of time, he collapsed. At the point of time, I was nervous and did not know what to do.
"Yes, i finally have an idea!" I shouted.
Hands shaking, I quickly ran to the nearby pond about a few metres away to get water to splash it on him. Still unconscious, he was pale and motionless and we did not know what to do.
I knew that there was a nearby clinic so my parents carried my neighbour. It was a tough job. We took about 20 minutes to reach clinic which was only a five-minute walk away. To our dismay, there was a big crowd of patients when we reached the clinic. We pleaded with the patients to let the doctor attend to Mr James first. They kindly agreed.
We knocked the door and went into the doctor's room. The doctor examined our neighbour. The doctor told us to wait outside. When the doctor was done, he apologised and said that Mr James had suffered from a heart attack and died. So, I think that all the while, my parents had been carrying a dead man.
We were sad, if CPR had been given to Mr James, he could have survived. My parents and I had no knowledge doing CPR at all. We should also have called the ambulance.
Mr James was a nice guy who jogged every day. He was also a vegetarian. I wondered why he had suffered from a heart attack as he was a healthy man.
After Mr James' family knew about this, they were devastated and cried all their hearts out. Though they were grateful to us that we were the last persons to give him our help, my guilt was stung for a long time after the incident.
