Can you help to give a suitable title?
Birds were chirping merrily.Butterflies fluttered freely around me.Mr Sun was shining as brightly as lamp. One cool Saturday morning,I was taking a stroll along the pavement near my house.I saw a silver van speeding from far way.
'Boom',I heard a loud crash.I looked at the place where I heard the crash coming from. The speeding silver van I saw moments ago had accidentally hit an innocent cyclist.I dashed to the scene. The driver of the van emerged out of the van.The cyclist had bruised his arms on the rough road.
Then,I saw the man's face.It looked familiar. It was Sally's father,Uncle Joe!Uncle Joe took the cyclist's wallet out of his pocket. He had a nasty smile on his angry face.
'Uncle Joe'!!!I screamed."Don't steal!You are committing a crime."He looked left and right.When he saw me,he was shocked.
'Aznil?'He asked.'What are you doing here?'He asked ,terrified.Suddenly, the cyclist moved his hand.'Help"he whimpered.Uncle Joe just stood there like a statue.I went towards the cyclist, helping him up on his feet.
He sat on the benches near the bus stop.Uncle Joe explained what had happened. He felt bad.He told us that he got fired a week ago and his family did not know about it.We went to the clinic,Uncle Joe wheeling the bicycle. The doctor treated to the cyclist's wounds.
The cyclist introduced himself. His name is Mr Lee.Uncle Joe and Mr Lee exchanged name cards.Mr Lee was the CEO of bank.Uncle Joe asked if he could loan some money from his company and Mr Lee agreed to lend him $1000.Uncle Joe promised to inform his family. They became friends. How lucky Uncle Joe was!

Post-reading: Weave a story
Tom hurled expletives at the gangsters. He could not fight back as he was clearly outnumbered. The gangsters cornered him and rained blows on him. Scared, he ran away and called the police. The police soon arrested the gangsters and everything was peaceful again.
~Stanley~
Sarah was walking home when she heard faint cries for help. She followed the sound to a dark alley. When she sneaked a peek, she saw a pair of brutes cornering a small boy. She saw the victim's face and recognised it a Sage Reed. The poor boy's face was stricken with fear as bullies rained blows on him.
Sarah rushed to help the boy. "Stop it! Stop it!" she yelled at the top of her lungs. The boy was pummelled and stepped on.
~Regis~
Ted was pushed against a wall in the dark room. He glanced around and saw someone emerging from the shadows. The newcomer rained blows on Ted as Ted shielded himself. A series of shouts erupted from Ted's throat. Ted hated violence. He really hated it. Ted ducked away from a blow, and ran to the door. But the gangster grabbed him back and gave him a huge punch. Ted kicked back and punched the gangster;s chin. As the gangster groaned in pain, Ted ran for the door.
~Junyang~
John was found dead yesterday night on the streets. The incident happened when he almost banged into a pedestrian. The pedestrian, Tedio Ming, shouted expletives and started kicking the car violently. John then emerged from the car and taunted Tedio by beckoning Tedio towards him.
Being a 56-year-old, John could not fight like Tedio. Tedio started throwing punches and kicks to John. Within seconds, Tedio's gang joined him and started to rain punches on John. He staggered and fell with a last blow to his head.

Best responses to "Have you watched The Lorax?"
These are the three best responses (c) to the text on The Lorax.
(a) How many characters are mentioned in this article?
Four characters are mentioned in this article.
(b) Who are they?
They are, in the order of when they are mentioned, the Lorax, Ted, Audrey and The Once-Ler.
(c) Which character do you like most? Why?
I like Ted the most. He helped to sve the trees from extinction and he was the only one who really wanted to help Once-Ler to plant the last tree seed. ~Ryan~
My favourite character is The Lorax. In the movie, he is really funny as he pulls his butt and he will take off and fly away. I like him as he speaks up for the trees.
If there were no trees on earth, it would be a wasteland.
Trees produce fresh oxygen through photosynthesis. If there were no trees, all animals, including us, will one day, use up all the oxygen and die.~Zheng Quan~
I like The Lorax as he was persistent in letting The Once-Ler know he was doing the wrong thing to kill the trees. It takes courage for one to do that. I do not think I will do that as I am scared off getting reprimanded by The Once-Ler for interfering with his business. ~Alisha~

Drum Roll... Best comments for ECP Mac Closure
Drum Roll...
The 3 best edited entries are (not in order of merit)...
(1) I have been to East Coast Park McDonald's since I was 4 years old. Although my parents had only been there twice, I had gone to that same old McDonalds with my goh goh and my jeh jeh. I would never forget the place. I remembered that I went there for about 16 times. Why must they really need to close this McDonalds outlet?
Well, my consolation is at least I had taken photos of the outlet when I was there to remind me of the good memories. How I wish that the outlet was upgraded instead of closed!

(2) I will sure miss this McDonald's outlet. I remember the times when my friends and I would visit the outlet for some vanilla ice-cream after a day of roller blading at the East Coast Park. As my secondary school was in the area, the ECP was a place we always frequent!
Ms Liew (no editing needed!)
(3) My mother had been there before. She enjoyed her best time in her younger days with her best friends over there. They went to stay at the chalet. There were many other attractions at the park which was a popular place for cycling and barbecues.
She had been to the said Mcdonalds to eat. She is sure going to miss the times she had with her best friends over there. I am sure she would want to turn back the clock to relive those beautiful memories.

Results for Experiments for photosynthesis (1)
Do you remember this post?
Discuss why the following responses are incorrect?
1. The experiment below was carried out by Ahmad to find out how the distance of a light source from a plant would affect its rate of photosynthesis.
a) What is a possible hypothesis for the experiment?
Response a1: All set ups will be able to make food.
Response a2: To find out if different colours of light affects the photosynthesis.
Response a3: The farther the distance away from the light the different rate of photosynthesis.
b) Identify the variable(s) that must be changed.
Response b1: distance of light
c) Identify 3 variable that must be kept the same.
Response c1: water, glass beaker, plant
d) Suggest two changes Ahmad must make to his experiment for it to be a fair test.
Response d1: The colour of light and the distance between the light and plant.
e) What must Ahmad observe so that he can make a conclusion to his experiment?
Response e1: He must observe the rate of photosynthesis.
Response e2: He must conduct starch test.
Response e3: He must observe air bubbles.

Maths practice 2
Feedback
1. Overall, there's an improvement in Practice 2 from Practice 1. Well done.
2. 50 000 written in words is fifty thousand NOT five ten thousands.
3. Some of you have a tendency to leave out the word 'thousand'.
Eg. 8 147 600 should be
eight million, one hundred and forty-seven thousand and six hundred.
It is not
eight million, one hundred and forty-seven and six hundred.
Do you see the difference?
Congratulations to all those who have done well. Keep up the good work!
