Aim:
To investigate if light is necessary for photosynthesis.
Hypothesis:
Light is necessary for photosynthesis.
Materials needed:
1. A cardboard box
2. Two identical plants
3. Water
4. Light
Procedure:
1. Take out 2 identical plants.
2. Put 1 of them into a cardboard.
3. Water them daily.
4. Put the other one in front of the window.
5. Observe the changes.
Student B is wrong because for the materials needed, he/she did not include gas burners, wire gauze, tripod stand, iodine solution, forceps, dropper, alchohol, 2 beakers and two white tiles. For the procedure, many steps are missing like destarch the plant for a 2 to 3 days before the first step, he/she did not mention to place both plants under strong light after destarching both plants and the most important thing, starch test.
ReplyDeleteThe Aim And Hypothesis Are Done Correctly.
ReplyDeleteThe Procedure And Materials Are Not Completed.
This Experiment Can Be Improved By Making The Procedure Clearer. For The Procedure At No. 4,He Did Not Write Where The Other Plant Must Be At.He Only Wrote About 1 Of The Plant.
He Could Be Clearer By Naming The Plants Like Set-Up A And B.He Did Not Write About Dis-Starching The Plant Too.If The Was No Step About It,Both Plants Would Have Starch At The Test For Starch At The End Of The Experiment. He Would Also Need A Dropper To Drop A Drop Of Iodine Solution On The Leaves Of Both Plants.
He Also Needs A Whie Tile As If There Was None,The Table Would Be Dirty. He Did Not Write How Long Does He Need To Water The Plants. He Wrote Daily.Daily Could Be Any Durarion.
Zheng Quan has all the answers that I missed out. :)
Deletei agree with you. your comment is good. nice observation!
DeleteStudent B"s presentation is not clear.materials needed are to less.He/She has miss out a lot of materials:wire guaze, gas burner,a beaker of warm alchohl,a beaker of water .ect.
ReplyDeleteProceder:please destarh the plant first for 12h to 24h,put them into a dark place for 12h to 24h.Pluck one leaf from each plant.boil theleaf.put it in a warm beaker of alchohol to dissovle the green colour of the leaf.than put the leaf on a white tile and and use a dropper to take some iodine solution and drop it on the leaf. And observe the difference.the aim and the hyponthesis is ok.try harder next time.
materials needed: dropper
ReplyDeleteforcep
2 identical plants
dark cupboard
water
light
iodine solution
gas burner
2 beakers
warm alcohol
white tile
procedure:
1. put 2 identical plants into a dark cupboard for 24-48 to destarch them
2.take one of the 2 plants out of the dark cupboard and place it at a place with light
3.water both of the plants
4. do step 3 for 3 days
5.after you have done that, pluck out a leaf from each of the plants.
6.boil the 2 leafs
7.after that, put the 2 leaves in warm alcohol to remove the colour.
8.after the leaves lose their colours, use the forcep to take both leves out of the warm alcohol and put them on a white tile.
9.use a dropper and put iodine solution on them
10.observe if the iodine solution changes its colour to dark blue.
Student B is wrong because that his materials needed does not have a dropper and a iodine solution.
ReplyDeleteThe procedure, the say that "Put one of them in the cardboard."Student B did not say that what to do to the other plant so we may assumed that both plants must be put in a cardboard. The 3rd sentence in the procedure that say"Water them Daily" we don't know that what object they are refering to the "them."
You Are Right. If There Was No Dropper And Iodine Solution,The Starch Test At The End Cannot Be Conducted.

The aim and hypothesis are correctly done.
ReplyDeleteLots of steps are missing, like you have to destarch the plant and never say that you have to put the plant in strong sunlight after destarch.
The aim and hypothesis is correct but student B is missing some mateials such as iodine solution, dropper, gas burners, warm water, warm alcohol, wire guaze, tripod, and beakers. The procedure are mixed up.
ReplyDeleteYou Are Right About the procedure
Deletechun yuen you are missing the materials
ReplyDeletestep 1: take out two identical plants
ReplyDeleteI:but take out from where???????????????
you should put step 4 together with step 2.
you forget about the starch test and the materials needed
Yes.step 1 was not very specific and step 2 and 4 should be together and not all materials were mentioned.
