Maths Practice 1

Spot your names! Bravo to these students who did very well in Practice 1 yesterday.

Feedback to the class:
1. Get your place values right.
Ones, tens, hundreds, thousands, ten thousands, hundred thousands, millions. Some of you left out the 'hundred thousands'.

2. When writing a number in words, we spell out all the digits in the number in words.
For example: 3 164 091 written in words is
Three million, one hundred and sixty-four thousand and ninety one.
NOT
3 million, one hundred and sixty-four thousand and ninety one

3. When writing a number in words, we do not write the place values. Place values can be identified with an 's' like tens, hundred thousands...

For example: 3 164 091 written in words is
Three million, one hundred and sixty-four thousand and ninety-one.
NOT
3 millions one hundred and sixty-four thousands and ninety-one

4. Don't forget your hypens. It is twenty-three, forty-five, ninety-eight but NOT twenty three, forty five, ninety eight.
