I was in the train cabin, packed with people. The seats were all occupied by adults. I only had poles to hold on to. I had always hated going to tuition, especially on Friday evenings. Adults were like bulls charging in the train, rushing to and from work. Pupils were returning home from school.
There I was, standing at the corner, where the emergency stop button was right above my head.I just had to jump a little to push it upwards.
I was shocked. A little girl's black, furry dog toy came towards me. She was controlling it. I hate dogs, even toy dogs. Since the toy dog came by surprise, I was shocked. I bumped up a little and I hit something hard, something that moved up after I hit it. That something came in my mind. It was the emergency stop button!
"Opsieeee", I mumbled, then I froze. The train made screeching sounds and it stopped. All the sitting passengers had their heads knocked on the glass panels. Some of those holding on to the poles and railings lost their balance while the others hung on tight, very tight.
Unfortunately for me, I was not holding on to anything. I was sent off flying on the floor, back first. After the rude stop, all passengers on board were frustrated with me. Everyone stared at me angrily, very angry and crossed with me.
Luckily for us, a train operator who boarded the train from the start of the journey, came to our rescue. He uttered something in his walkie-talkie. He told us to remain calm. All passengers except me whined. One disgruntled man in a crowd shouted that if the train did not move, he would lodge a complaint against me. He also cried that he would be late for an important meeting.
After a few minutes, we could hear the train engine roaring again. I let out a sigh of relief. At the next station, I apologised to the passengers on board and the train crew. The train operator said that it was not a problem. At least I admitted to it and knew I was at fault. I apologised once more and left the train station.
I went straight to my tuition centre. When I got there, the tuition centre was closed. I checked the date on my watch. To my dismay, was Thursday but not Friday! What an unlucky day!
