1. Kelly and Rita shared a sum of money in the ratio 8 : 5. After Rita had given $468 to Kelly, the ratio of Kelly’s money to Rita’s money became 2 : 1.
a) How much money did Kelly have in the end?
b) What is the difference in their money at first?
2. There were some goldfish and angelfish in a pet shop. After 3/8 of the goldfish and 2/3 of the angelfish were sold, there was an equal number of goldfish and angelfish. If there were 360 fish left in the shop,
(a) what was the total number of fish in the shop at first?
(b) what was the total amount collected when each goldfish was sold at $8.85?
3. Two stacks of magazines have a total mass of 41.22 kg. When 3 magazines of mass 150 g each were transferred from the lighter stack to the heavier stack, the heavier stack becomes 5 times as heavy as the lighter stack. Find the mass of the heavier stack at first.

ReplyDeleteWei Ting's group did Q1 and they found how much money Kelly had at first instead of how much money Kelly had in the end.

I think groups that did question 1 got the wrong answers.

I think groups who did question 3 did quite well esciapply Nabilah group.

ReplyDeleteFor group that did question 2, most of them got differen answer from ours.But from what we see, we know that they have put in a lot of effort. We do not really undestand their working.

DeleteFor Alisha's group,they show their working clearly, but we still cannot understand their working for part b.
For Glenn's group, they were specific on their working and they got the correct answer.

DeleteAfter going through the answers, we understand why we got some questions wrong and we understand the concepts of the questions better. We did not know the correct concept of the first question and got it wrong. This has been a good learning experience for us.

ReplyDeleteUm not solve Q2 but to represent the fraction.

ReplyDeleteWe got it wrong because we did not know it but now we know it.
Question 2's method is Squares and Circles (Symbols). We did not used that method.
